AGUMON

A companion with continuity.

Memory, action and extensible skills, designed around one person. A personal AI companion in build.

An exploration, not a released product.

01 / The intention

Most personal assistants forget you between conversations.

Memory is bolted on as an afterthought. Personality is corporate by default. Every morning starts with re-explaining yourself to a stranger who has read your file and still doesn't know you.

I wanted a companion with continuity. One that picks up where we left off, pushes back when I'm wrong, and doesn't talk like a brochure.

02 / Design boundaries

Remembering and acting stay separate by design.

Brain
Remembers and reflects.
Body
Handles conversation and action.
Plugins
Extend what it can do.

03 / Design principles

The shape of the companion.

01

Separate the thinker from the doer.

Brain thinks, Body acts. Brain suggests, Body decides. Brain never touches the world. The cleanest abstraction I've found for personal AI.

02

Persistence is the product.

An assistant without memory is a search engine with a voice. The Neo4j graph isn't an optimisation — it's the entire reason to build this instead of using a chatbot.

03

Personality, not corporate.

Comedy is the seasoning, not the main dish. Sarcasm, support, honesty — and a refusal to sugarcoat. If the assistant agrees with everything you say, it's useless.

04

Modules over components.

Components inside a module can be tightly coupled. Cross-module is interface-only. Implementation, replacement, and reasoning happen at the module layer.
